B/ST 490/01: "Neo-Colonialism and Armed Conflict in Africa"

This course will focus on armed conflict in Africa, its causes, effects, destruction of youth and social institutions. Also, the role of former colonial powers, the U.S., and other international agencies will be studied. Guest speakers, films, and printed materials will supplement lectures. FCSE 490/01: "Special Topics"

A three week short-term study abroad course in selected cities in New Zealand. Contemporary issues affecting children and families in the U.S. and in New Zealand will be examined. Selected social service agencies providing assistance to children and families will be visited in New Zealand.
