New CalPERS Retirement Plans

Recent pension reform legislation (SBX6 22) established new CalPERS Retirement Plans for certain newly hired employees, establishing new retirement formulas for individuals hired for the first time on or after January 1, 2011. It also made changes to the average used in calculating “final compensation.” This new law is not applicable to current CSU employees. Questions about the new retirement plans should be directed to Benefits Services, or CalPERS at 888-225-7377.
