June SkillSoft Spotlight: Effective Communication Skills

Did you know that it is Effective Communications Month? There are many opportunities within SkillSoft you can take advantage of to enhance your ability to communicate effectively both personally and professionally. Here are just a few, available 24/7:

Being a Receptive Communication Partner is focused on two essential skills that most everyone finds challenging to keep sharpened: listening and questioning. In this 30-minute online course, you'll work on sharpening those skills – as well as on getting yourself in the right receptive mind-set for communicating. Be sure to download the Resources such as the Job Aid “How Receptive Are You?” which enables you to assess how well you listen, question, and demonstrate receptivity, and to identify behaviors that you need to improve on. There are also four downloadable SkillBriefs which augment the course content.

Providing assessments, exercises, and Think About It sections that offer learners opportunities for practice and feedback, the book Interpersonal Communication Skills for the Workplace prepares readers to communicate effectively, both within their organizations and in whatever business or professional situations they encounter.

The book Communication Essentials For Dummies is packed with advice on improving verbal and non-verbal communication skills. This comprehensive, approachable guide shows you how easy it is to communicate effectively in personal and professional relationships.

Note: A professional development plan can be created in conjunction with your ASM and appropriate administrator, which can be completed electronically through this program. Appropriate administrator approval must be obtained in advance to complete coursework during work hours.
