DCP reviews all University requests to lease or purchase copying equipment (regardless of funding source) and has the final authority on such requests.
DCP provides copiers, 8 1/2 X 11" white copy paper, all consumable copier supplies and a full service maintenance contract. A flat rate of $0.0475 (black/white) or $0.35 (color) per copy/print is charged for this service. DCP personnel monitors machine performance and performs necessary accounting and bookkeeping duties to insure that the Program is efficient and cost effective.
The copy machines in the Program are placed in key locations so as to be accessible to the majority of the users. It is the intention of the Program to place the newer and better featured copiers in the busiest departments, and the older copiers in departments with less demand that are not located near an existing Program copier. All Program copy machines have designated "Key Operators" who are responsible for keeping supplies and paper on hand, and also for knowing how to clear paper jams and perform routine maintenance.
All of the consumable copier supplies and 8 1/2 X 11" white copy paper are available from the DCP office. To order these supplies the key operator submits a completed "Departmental Copier Program Copier Supply Order" form to the DCP office for approval. (This form may also be faxed to (562) 985-2470.) There is no separate charge for these supplies, their cost is included in the copy charge that is processed at the end of each month. DCP retains a student assistant who delivers these supplies once the order is approved. All orders are checked against the volume of the copier they are being ordered for. If it is found that the department has received more supplies than the copier has required, and if these supplies are not recovered, then the department will be charged accordingly.
In an effort to encourage the use of recycled office paper the Departmental Copier Program will offer for purchase white, 8½ X 11” recycled copy paper for use in faxes and printers. This is the same paper that the Program currently provides to Copier Program participants for use in copy machines. This paper is priced at Program cost (call x5-7558 for current price) and will be sold in cases only, with 10 reams in each case. An order form is available from this website (DCP Non-Program Paper Order form) and will require chartfield billing information and an authorizing signature. Delivery will be made by the Copier Program student assistant.
