Property Management

Property Management consists of two sections Fixed Assets and Inventory Control. Fixed Assets responsibilities lie in accounting for and recording all capitalized expenses. This includes not only equipment but also land, building improvements and intangibles assets. It reviews all such purchases and reports to General Accounting those which should be capitalized. Inventory control, on the other hand, is responsible for maintaining the University Inventory. It processes and records all acquisitions, transfers, surveys and donations of equipment to the University.

Every six months, the updated inventory is forwarded to all departments for confirmation. This process requires departments to certify their current inventory and report any discrepancies to the Property Office. In this way both department and the University inventories are kept up to date. Property Management and Fixed Assets both share the joint responsibility for the disposal and reutilization of equipment. This includes the processing of all sales.

These sales are currently being posted on publicsurplus.com.
