Email Services

Information Technology Services provides faculty and staff email services, including personal and resource calendaring and contacts. The campus email and calendaring environment is currently moving to Microsoft Exchange 2010. Please check with your technical coordinator about your department’s migration date. You can also send inquiries to its-service@csulb.edu. For the project’s status, see the @CSULB E-mail and Voicemail Project Website.

To obtain the @csulb email service, you must be a current faculty or staff member. For student email service, visit BeachMail.

Using Your Email

Supported Desktop Email Applications

Support for the following email applications is being phased-in beginning August 2011:

  • Outlook 2010 [Windows]
  • Outlook 2011 [Mac]
  • Outlook Web Access (OWA)

Support for the following email applications is being phased-out beginning August 2011:

  • Lotus Notes
  • iNotes
  • WebMail (CommuniGate)

Access to @csulb Email

After migrating to the new email system, the following options for faculty and staff are available:

  • On your University computer:
    1. For PC (Windows XP SP2 and above, Vista, and 7) use Outlook 2010, and
    2. For Mac use Outlook 2011
  • On the Web: With any common Web browser use Outlook Web Access (OWA) to obtain full feature access to email, contacts, tasks, public folders and calendaring at mail.csulb.edu
  • On a Mobile Device: Retrieve messages using a supported mobile device.

    • iPhone
    • Blackberry

Access to Lotus Notes, iNotes, and Webmail

Until you are migrated to the @csulb email system, continue to access Lotus Notes using your desktop client, iNotes through the web at inotes.csulb.edu, and WebMail through the web at webmail.csulb.edu.

Anti-Spam Email Services

CSULB uses a variety of mechanisms to protect the campus and its employees from e-mail spam and viruses. In-coming and out-going campus e-mail is scanned for potential threats using security appliances.

Costs and Charges

There is no charge for staff and faculty State employees. There is a nominal fee of $2 for auxiliary employee accounts paid by the auxiliary department.
