Abbreviated Dialing
Setting Your Abbreviated Numbers
After requesting the abbreviated dialing option from the campus operator, please allow 24 hours (Monday through Thursday) for the programming to be conducted. After the feature has been initiated, you can set up the keys on your telephone's key pad (0 through 9) to call any number you wish. Use the following instructions to set up abbreviated dialing on your key pad.
- On your telephone key pad: Press *51*
- Enter a single digit (0 through 9).
- Then: Press *9
- Enter the area code and number (10 digits).
- Then: Press #
Using Your Abbreviated Numbers
By selecting any single digit to use as an abbreviated number, you can dial a 10-digit telephone number by pressing the star (*) key twice and then pressing the single digit to which you've assigned the full-length telephone number.
- On your telephone key pad: Press **
- Enter a single digit (0 through 9).
(For example, **1 could be used to call the Chancellor's Office.)
Deleting An Abbreviated Number
If you wish to clear an abbreviated number selection, use the following instructions.
- On your telephone key pad: Press #51*
- Enter a single digit (0 through 9).
- Then: Press #
