The Engineering Services departments' responsibility is for the operation of the mechanical systems of all the University buildings except the University Student Union, Student Housing, Bookstore, Cafeteria, Outpost (49er Shops) and Foundation facilities. This includes the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Also included is the operation of the elevators in each building.
Building Service Engineers respond to calls reporting temperatures of too hot of too cold in offices and facilities. They would also be called for elevators not operating properly. The Building Service Engineers primary responsibility is to maintain a comfortable environment within the building for all occupants.
Refrigeration Mechanics provide service on the air conditioning and refrigeration systems that are part of the building mechanical systems.
