Many departments on campus generate wood scrap during normal operational activities. Some departments generate scrap wood during cleanouts or renovations, most of which is recyclable if properly prepared. Acceptable materials for recycling include:
Scrap wood can be brought to the wood roll-off at the PPFM laydown yard for recycling. Departments that have large amounts of wood should request temporary bins for collection.
Wood from CSULB is taken to a local facility where it is shredded in a tub grinder and used for a variety of uses, including, fuel for power plants (50%), alternative daily cover at landfills (40%), and compost (10%).
