One of the most abundant form of renewable energy in our region comes from the Sun. Sunlight is captured by solar cells made from semiconductor material to form Photovoltaic solar panels that convert energy from light to clean electrical energy.
CSULB is committed to reducing our reliance on fossil based fuels and supports the use of clean sources of energy. To demonstrate this commitment, the campus has installed photovoltaic solar to electricity generating systems in three locations:
Plans are underway to increase our on site sources of clean and renewable energy including the use of Fuel Cells for combined heat, power, and cooling generation as well as adding more solar power systems.

The environmental benefits of these on-site renewable energy systems are significant. To date, these systems have generated over 656,000 Kilowatt hours of clean electrical energy resulting in the following environmental benefits:
