Parking Lot Reconfiguration (fall 2016)

CSULB has reconfigured campus lots to ease navigation, reduce citations and improve the campus community parking experience. These changes include simplifying lot usage by creating single-use lots wherever possible, eliminating designated carpool spaces because they were not effectively used, and consolidating Short-Term parking locations. Please see the campus map for reference.

A summary of parking lot changes is provided below:

  • Employee parking was added to Lots 7, 17, 11C and 12 and removed from Lot 1, 8A, 11B, 13, 15, 18, 21 and Parking Structure 1.
  • Employee-only parking (marked as “Restricted Parking”) is now located in lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
  • Remaining mixed-use lots are:
    • Lot 11C and 17: Employee and Short-Term
    • Lot 10A: Employee and LifeFit
  • Short-Term parking locations were consolidated in Lots 1, 8A, 11C, 16, 17, State University Drive and the South Campus Turnaround.
    • Short-Term parking includes both that for Official Guests of the University and spots formerly identified as metered or Pay-by-Space.
    • Short-Term spaces offer 30-, 60-, and 90-minute parking (paid at a pay station).
    • Official Guests will be able to park in any spot labeled Short-Term or Official Guest of the University, as well as any General Parking lot or parking structure.
  • General student parking (marked as “General Parking”) is now located in Lots 1, 11A, 11B, 12, 13, 14A, 14B, 14C, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21 and all three parking structures on campus.
  • Employee lots are also available for student parking after 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (Lot 5 after 7 p.m.), and any time on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Resident parking is only located in Lots 14D, 19 and in designated residential spaces in Lot 14C.

Carpool Spaces

To maximize our progress toward our goals as a charter signatory to the Climate Commitment, CSULB will be shifting resources away from the current carpool program toward sustainable transportation incentives that will create a larger reduction in our overall greenhouse gas emissions (GHG); these programs include continuing the free Long Beach Transit bus services with U-PASS TAP card and the addition of the new Anaheim Shuttle route. In fall 2016, all designated carpool spaces on campus will returned to student (general) or employee (restricted) parking spaces depending on the designation of the parking lot in which they are located. Find out more at our Carpool webpage.

Parking Pay Stations

Upgraded parking pay stations have been installed across campus for the purchase of daily or Short-Term parking. Pay stations have been relocated to more convenient locations along the direct paths of travel since returning to your vehicle to display a paper permit is no longer required. Parking pay stations are also available on the 1st floor of all three parking structures. Parking pay station locations can also be viewed on the campus map.

Campus Signage

Parking and Transportation Services will begin working on a campus-wide signage and wayfinding project this fall to further simplify campus parking.
