Why do I have to pay for parking?
Parking on campus is only approved if a parking fee has been paid. Parking fees are shared and equitable. All persons choosing to park on campus take part in the cost of providing parking services on campus regardless of status (employee, student, visitor, etc.) or guest designation. Title 5, Article 7, Section 42201(a) of the California Code of Regulations specifies “the university president may grant permission for the parking of vehicles on campus to those persons who have paid a parking fee."
When are parking permits required?
A valid virtual permit is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, when parking on campus.
Where can I park?
Students may park in general parking lots with a valid virtual permit. Review the campus parking regulations for additional student parking information. Access the parking map for locations of campus lots and the types of spaces found in each lot. .
Where can I purchase a virtual parking permit?
Student semester and annual parking can be purchased online. Daily and short-term parking is also available for purchase at the parking pay stations located along the direct paths of travel from each lot.
Can I purchase my permit at the Cashier’s Office?
All student parking must be purchased online. Effective August 15, 2016, CSULB will be using a License Plate Recognition (LPR) parking system. Your purchased parking will be verified through your license plate. Physical permits will no longer be distributed.
My friend is leaving campus. Can I use their semester parking permit?
No. Paid parking is nontransferable and can only be used by the individual who purchased it. Parking privileges will be revoked for any individuals found in violation of CSULB’s parking regulations. Please notify University Police at (562) 985-4101 immediately if anyone attempts to sell you a previously-used virtual permit or permit account.
How do I get a refund for my virtual permit?
Refund requests must be made at the Cashier’s Office in Brotman Hall.
I received a parking citation, what do I do next?
Please follow the instructions listed on your citation. You may pay your citation online. If you feel you were cited in error, you have the option of appealing any parking citation online within 21 days from the date of issuance.
Can I apply for a carpool permit?
As of fall 2016, designated carpool spaces on campus will be converted into student (general) or employee (restricted) parking spaces. We encourage carpooling to campus whenever possible for the many benefits it provides.
