Environmental Internships

Administrative Intern

The Administrative Intern works closely with the Rideshare Coordinator to manage program registrations, monthly participant reports, rideshare rewards and public transit subsidies. This position also provides the opportunity to assist with grant writing as well as statistic and service reports. The Administrative Intern may work with a faculty advisor and the Rideshare Coordinator to conduct research or develop a project in conjunction with the intern’s major field of study.

Past internship projects have included:

  • Collaborative research for a multi-million dollar federal grant proposal for Surface Transportation Infrastructure
  • Coordination with CBA, Rideshare and City of Long Beach officials for research and development of a survey tool for bicycle commuter education programs

Marketing Intern

The Marketing intern works collaboratively with the Rideshare Coordinator, CSULB Cyclists, JAX Bicycles, Long Beach Transit, Enterprise Vanpool, Zimride Carpool, and Zipcar to provide comprehensive education and outreach services promoting the use of intermodal sustainable transportation services. The Marketing Intern may work with a faculty advisor and the Rideshare Coordinator to conduct research or develop a project in conjunction with the intern’s major field of study.

Past internship projects have included:

  • Research, design and production of the campus-wide Rideshare Brochure
  • Focused collaborative marketing with Harvard Graduate Tessa Petrich, Director of Marketing for Zimride, CSULB’s social network for ride sharing

Mobility Counseling Intern

The Mobility Counseling intern works collaboratively with the Rideshare Coordinator, the City of Long Beach Mobility Coordinator, CSULB Cyclists, Long Beach Transit, MTA, OCTA, Enterprise Vanpool, Zimride Carpool and Zipcar to provide individual commute counseling and advocacy to CSULB students and staff. The Mobility Counseling Intern may work with a faculty advisor and the Rideshare Coordinator to conduct research or develop a project in conjunction with the intern’s major field of study.

Past internship projects have included:

  • Providing individual mobility counseling and advocacy to encourage and sustain first time cyclist commuters, public transit users, carpoolers and vanpoolers
  • Collaboration with Environmental Science and Policy faculty, Rideshare, and City of Long Beach officials to develop a “Safe Routes to School” map for cyclists

All internships are offered each semester on a competitive basis to work study and volunteer applicants who are currently enrolled at C.S.U.L.B. Graduate and undergraduate students from all majors are welcome and encouraged to apply.
