Press Brief

On June 4, 2005, the CSULB Police Department received numerous 911 calls regarding several gunshots being fired in parking lot #4, adjacent to the Student Union/West Turn Around. Police officers arrived and contained the scene. They discovered evidence consistent with gunshots along with a small amount of blood.

Several minutes later police learned a victim had been shot and was receiving treatment for two non-life threatening bullet wounds at St. Mary's Hospital. The victim is expected to fully recover. The victim had been attending a graduation party for a local high school at the CSULB student union. The victim was not a student at the host high school nor Cal State Long Beach. The scheduled social event was a non-university sponsored event. This case is currently under investigation with the CSULB P.D.
