Off Campus Kidnapping / Assault

The CSU Long Beach Police Department is warning the campus community of a kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred in the City of Lakewood by an individual who impersonated a police officer. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department Special Victims Bureau Tip Line at (866) 247-5877.

On Friday, January 23, 2009, at approximately 8:45pm, on the 12000 block of Gradwell St, Lakewood, the suspect approached the victims impersonating himself as a police officer and attempted to search the victims. The suspect then struck one victim and grabbed the second, forcing her into his vehicle, he then fled north on Claretta Ave. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim before returning her to the general area he initially confronted the victims.
