In accordance with policy and to ensure a safe and more healthful environment, smoking, burning incense or candles is not permitted in any building in the housing complex. Residents who do smoke must do so outside of the residence halls. Smoking in stairwells or within 25 feet of buildings is not permitted.
Possession or use of any barbecues, highly flammable material, explosives, firecrackers are not permitted in or around the residence halls. Hot plates are not permitted in student rooms. Procedures for evacuations are posted in all student rooms and in the corridors of each hall and are to be followed during any alarm or practice drill. The resident staff is required to clear the building in the event of any fire alarm. Failure to evacuate the building is a violation of university regulations.
In case of fire:
Fire alarm and firefighting equipment is to be used only in the case of fire. For your protection, the fire alarm system is directly connected and monitored by University Police. Misuse or abuse of the fire alarm system or any fire safety equipment is an extremely serious offense that could result in University disciplinary action and/or criminal prosecution.
