Missing Student Notification

If a member of the university community has reason to believe that a student, who resides in on-campus housing is missing, he or she should immediately notify University Police at (562) 985-4101.  If a report is made to Housing, Housing staff will immediately contact University Police.  University Police will generate a missing-person report and initiate an investigation.

In addition to registering an emergency contact, students residing in on-campus housing have the option to identify confidentially an individual to be contacted by the University in the event the student is determined to be missing. Students who wish to identify a confidential contact may do so when completing the Housing application and at anytime on-line through the CSULB Housing Portal.  Only authorized campus officials and law enforcement officers in furtherance of a missing person investigation may have access to this information.  If the missing student is less than 18 years of age and not emancipated, their parent or guardian will be notified.
Once information on missing persons is reported to the police, a complete and thorough investigation will be conducted in accordance with California law and University Police Department Policy.
