CSULB will be honoring long-term employees at this year’s Staff Service Awards ceremony at the Pyramid on May 16. Jon Root, Manager of Integrated Waste Management & Moving Services, recently helped spearhead a process to divert unsold, perishable food items to a Long Beach based food bank. In the planning since November of 2007, the effort got a kick start in February of this year and has been in continuous operation, with the coordinated efforts of the 49er Shops and Food Finders, a Long Beach based nonprofit food bank.

The Sixth Annual Relay For Life Long Beach was held at the Jack Rose Track on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. The full, 24-hour around-the-clock event brings together campus and community members to help the American Cancer Society raise awareness and funds for cancer research, education, and related programs.
