The Student Professional Liability Insurance Program and the Student Academic Field Experience for Credit Liability Insurance Program are designed to protect students from claims arising out of real or alleged incidents when the damage being claimed is the result of an error or omission in the practice of the student’s profession during internships, practicums, or field work. Faculty members are also covered under this program while they are instructing or supervising insured students.
To be eligible for coverage, a student must be enrolled in a course for which student professional liability coverage is required and has been purchased by the University. A written placement agreement between the host site and the University is also required. Individuals enrolled in a course for which student professional liability coverage is required are protected from claims made at any time provided they were covered at the time the real or alleged incident occurred.
