Vehicle Fluid Release Response Procedures

After-Hours Call-Out Procedure

  1. Safety and Risk Management (SRM) will receive a call from University Police (UP), or other department, regarding a hazardous material spill/release on campus.
  2. Determine from UP if the spill has entered a strom drain and if the spill is the result of avehicle fluid release.
  3. If UP confirms that the spill has not entered the storm drain system and is composed of vehicle fluids (anti-freeze, transmission fluid, brake fluid, hydraulic oil, motor oil, etc). Then SRM will contact Finish Line Towing to respond. (All contact numbers are listed below.)
  4. Finish Line Towing shall not respond to any other hazardous material releases except for vehicle fluids.
  5. SRM will direct UP, or other reporting department, to stand by until either Finish Line Towing or SRM arrives on site.
  6. SRM will document the start and end times of Finish Line Towing's response.
  7. Prior to Finish Line Towing exiting the campus, SRM will inspect and approve the completion of all clean up activities.
  8. Notify and forward all invoices to Safety and Risk Management, specifically George Alfaro.
